Mr. M R Shah assuming duties as Chairman of Merchant Bank
   

Mr. M R Shah assumed duties as the Chairman of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Plc (MBSL) on 13.05.2010.  Dr. Gamini Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the parent Company – Bank of Ceylon, Members of the Board, CEO, Mr. Gamini Karunathilake were also present to grace this occasion.

Addressing the staff gathered, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the honesty, commitment and transparency which are reflected in the progress of the Bank.

Mr. Shah stated that he had associated with the staff of Merchant Bank very closely as the President of Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union (CBEU) and he understands their mindset.  He further mentioned that he is aware that all staff members have sacrificed immensely during bad times, not only in their personal interests, but also in the best interests of the Bank.  He was also confident that the staff will extend their fullest support to fulfill his visions at MBSL in keeping with the Government’s economic development policy.

Before he assumed office as the Chairman of MBSL, he has had 33 years of experience at the Commercial Bank, until he retired in February this year.

Father and son of Mr. Shah were also present and blessed him for his journey at MBSL.
